Drive up from the coast and the scenery changes quickly. Sea views give way to mountains, whitewashed houses and winding roads – and suddenly life feels just a little slower.
That contrast is a big part of Benahavís’ charm.
Come for lunch. Stay for the lifestyle.
Benahavís village is made for wandering without much of a plan. Narrow streets, small squares, terraces full of people having long lunches – and plenty of reasons not to rush back to the coast.
But Benahavís is much more than the village itself.
The municipality includes some of the Costa del Sol’s best-known residential areas, including La Zagaleta, La Quinta, Los Arqueros, El Madroñal and Los Flamingos.
Here you’ll find everything from contemporary apartments and golf properties to spectacular villas hidden in the hills.
Thinking about living in the area? Explore my guide to Benahavís and discover its exclusive residential communities, villas and golf properties.
And yes, the views really are that good
This is one of my favourite areas for buyers who want space, privacy and nature without feeling isolated.
You can wake up surrounded by mountains, play golf in the morning, have lunch in Marbella and still be home in time to watch the sunset from your terrace.
Not a bad Tuesday.
What about property prices?
Benahavís is firmly at the premium end of the Costa del Sol market. In August 2026, the municipality’s average asking price reached approximately €5,553/m², up 7.1% from a year earlier. But the differences within Benahavís are substantial: La Zagaleta was above €8,000/m², while other areas offered considerably lower averages.
Which is exactly why saying “I want to buy in Benahavís” is really only the beginning of the conversation.
My view
If Marbella gives you the buzz and the Mediterranean gives you the beach, Benahavís gives you room to breathe.
And sometimes that is exactly what you’re looking for.
See you in the next Edit,
Johanna
